Job Description
To strengthen our professional team in the Forestry Department, we are looking for a working student to help in our "Digital Detect" project. This project aims to develop a system that uses satellite imagery to automatically detect bark beetle infestations in near-real time. During our pilot phase, we regularly monitor the results in the Black Forest and collect corresponding reference data for evaluation and further calibration.
- In your role, you will support our team in monitoring bark beetle infestations in the Black Forest National Park.
- Starting in summer 2024, you will join a team of 3-4 colleagues on a two-day field trip every 2-4 weeks to collect time series data from infested trees.

- Working student hourly rate (Bachelor from 13.50€ to 14.5€/hour - Master from 15.50€ to 17.50€/hour)
- Working student contract type: from mid-June / July 2024 to April 2025
- Part-time approx. 2 days per month (from 10 to max. 20 hours / month)
The position is based in Freiburg, Germany. Our headquarters are just a 5- minutes’ walk away from the main train station.
